By CBSE Class 12 supplementary practical examinations for compartment-category students began on Wednesday and will run through August 4.
The exams cover students placed in the compartment category due to a Repeat Practical (RP) or Repeat Theory and Practical Both (RB) requirement in one or more subjects.
Students in the RP category, who failed only the practical component, are required to appear only for the practical exam, as their theory marks from before carry forward.
Students in the RB category, who must clear both theory and practical components, need to appear for both parts of the supplementary examination.
CBSE had instructed eligible students to contact their school or examination centre by July 27 with their result or marksheet copy and admit card to confirm the schedule.
Regular students will sit the practicals at their respective schools, while private candidates will appear at the centres assigned for their theory exams, with CBSE regional offices arranging alternate venues where lab facilities are unavailable.
External examiners for the practicals are appointed exclusively by CBSE regional offices, while internal examiners are drawn from each school’s own staff.
Practical marks must be uploaded on the same day as the exam and become final once submitted, with no scope for later changes.
CBSE typically releases compartment results within three to four weeks of the exams, which would put this year’s declaration in the first half of August; the result will be accessible on cbse.gov.in and DigiLocker using the student’s roll number, school number, centre number and admit card ID.
CBSE typically finalises and uploads Class 12 supplementary results within a few weeks of the exams concluding, allowing eligible students to proceed with college admissions without a long delay.
The supplementary examination window gives compartment-category students a chance to clear pending subjects within the same academic year, rather than waiting for the next annual cycle.
