By The Odyssey has crossed Rs 138 crore net at the Indian box office, surpassing Oppenheimer to become Christopher Nolan’s highest-grossing film in the country, according to trade figures released on Friday, July 31, 2026.
Trade tracker Sacnilk said the film picked up about Rs 3 crore on Day 15, lifting its cumulative India net collection to roughly Rs 138.40 crore since its release on July 17.
Oppenheimer’s total theatrical run in India had earned Rs 129 crore net, making it the 13th Hollywood film to cross Rs 100 crore net in the country at the time of its release.
The record came close to Nolan’s birthday on July 30, giving the milestone extra significance for trade analysts tracking his India box office standing.
The Odyssey’s cast includes Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o and Charlize Theron.
Despite the higher revenue, trade watchers note Oppenheimer had drawn more overall footfalls in India, a difference attributed to variations in ticket pricing and premium-format viewership between the two films.
The milestone arrived close to Christopher Nolan’s birthday on July 30, adding a symbolic dimension to the record for trade watchers tracking the director’s India box office history.
The Odyssey opened strongly in its first week, collecting around Rs 85.50 crore net in its opening seven days before settling into a steadier run through its second and third weeks.
Shot largely on IMAX cameras, the film continues Nolan’s long association with the large-format technology, a factor trade analysts say has historically boosted his films’ premium-format revenue share in India.
