By Union Home Minister Amit Shah met India’s Mixed Disability Men’s Cricket Team in New Delhi after their return from a successful tour of England.
India won the seven-match India-England Men’s Mixed Disability T20I Series 2026 by a 4-3 margin, sealing the series with an 18-run victory in the final match after posting 206 for 4.
“Their efforts and determination to win honours for the nation inspire the youth of India,” Shah said while welcoming the team back to the capital.
BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia also met the players, saying, “It was truly inspiring to interact with these remarkable players, whose determination and passion made the Nation proud.”
The series had swung back and forth, with England winning the opener by 29 runs before India responded with wins on August 7 and 9, only for England to level the series on August 12.
India then won back-to-back matches on August 15 and 16 before sealing the series with the final victory on August 19, marking a significant milestone for disability cricket in the country.
The Vitality IT20 Mixed Disability Series was played across venues in England, with matches at grounds including Lord’s, widely referred to as the home of cricket, drawing attention to the growth of the disability format.
Mixed disability cricket brings together players across different disability categories in a single format, and the sport has been steadily gaining recognition and support from national cricket boards in recent years.
The team’s reception in Delhi included meetings with senior BCCI and government officials, reflecting a growing institutional push to give disability cricket the same visibility as the mainstream game.
The series victory adds to a growing list of achievements for Indian cricket across formats this year, with the men’s, women’s and now the mixed disability sides all recording notable results on tours abroad.
