Sajid Khan’s 4-wicket spell bowls out West Indies for 344

West Indies were dismissed for 344 in their first innings on day two of the second Test against Pakistan at Queen’s Park Oval.

Pakistan’s Sajid Khan returned figures of 4 for 85, the best of the innings, with three other bowlers sharing the remaining wickets.

Justin Greaves was West Indies’ top scorer with 73, while Roston Chase added 70 as the hosts pushed on from their overnight 239 for 5.

Pakistan struck three times on the second morning, reducing West Indies from their overnight score to 323 for 8 before the innings folded at 344.

Pakistan’s reply stood at 98 for 2 after 20.5 overs, with the tourists trailing by 246 runs.

West Indies lead the five-Test series 1-0 after winning the opening Test by 90 runs at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba.

Sajid Khan’s four-wicket haul was Pakistan’s best bowling return of the innings, with three other Pakistan bowlers sharing the remaining wickets to dismiss West Indies for 344.

Pakistan’s top order took the new-ball attack on cautiously in their reply, looking to avoid the kind of batting collapse that cost them the series opener at Tarouba.

Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain, one of the oldest Test venues in the Caribbean, has historically offered more assistance to spinners as matches progress, a factor both sides will be weighing as the Test moves into its middle overs.

West Indies had ended the opening day at 239 for 5, with Justin Greaves unbeaten on a composed half-century after early partnerships helped the hosts recover from a slow start.
