The world’s South-Asian creators are scattered across continents — from the streets of Mumbai to the studios of London, from Sydney cafés to Toronto sets. Yet, somewhere between where we were born and where we belong, we lost a place that felt like home.
That’s where Bad & Desi comes in.
It isn’t just a podcast. It isn’t just a platform.
It’s a global home for South Asian creators — a space that connects talent across countries, builds collaborations, and gives our stories the visibility, credibility, and love they’ve always deserved.
A Movement Born from Sydney, Powered by Identity
Founded in Sydney by Nishita Khatter, Managing Director of the marketing agency Blue Moon Marketing, Bad & Desi was born out of her desire to keep South Asian culture alive in Western countries — to give voice, pride, and community to those who grew up between cultures.
“Growing up in Australia, I was always proud of my Indian roots,” Nishita shares.
“But I rarely saw stories that reflected what it truly felt like to be both — to hold onto your culture while chasing global dreams. Bad & Desi is a space where that balance is not only accepted but celebrated.”
From Podcast to Platform
What began as a heartfelt podcast is now evolving into a global creative ecosystem connecting South-Asian talent across the world.
Bad & Desi bridges the gap between emerging and verified creators, enabling collaboration, exposure, and opportunity on a global scale.
For creators:
- Collaborate across borders on music, film, design, and art projects.
- Verified creators receive credibility content — podcast features, media coverage, and exposure to global audiences.
- Emerging creators can apply for verified projects, connect with collaborators worldwide, build portfolios, and gain recognition.
For brands:
- Curated access to authentic, culturally rooted South-Asian creators for campaigns and partnerships.
Celebrating the Diaspora
To be South Asian in today’s world is to walk between two homes — one that shaped us and one we built for ourselves. Bad & Desi celebrates that space in-between.
The platform represents the 50 million+ global South-Asian diaspora, creating a digital bridge between India, Australia, the UK, Canada, the UAE, and the US.
Each episode of the Bad & Desi Podcast brings together artists, entrepreneurs, and storytellers who speak candidly about identity, hustle, belonging, and ambition — the threads that tie every South Asian story together.
Why It Matters
- The global creator economy is projected to exceed $104 billion by 2025, yet South Asian creators remain underrepresented in major media ecosystems.
- Bad & Desi provides structure, credibility, and visibility — helping South Asian creators find opportunity, brands find authentic talent, and audiences find representation that feels real.
- The platform’s next goal: onboard 5,000 creators in 90 days and expand through partnerships with music labels, diaspora festivals, and media outlets.
Redefining Representation
For Nishita, representation isn’t about being seen — it’s about being seen fully.
Bad & Desi’s guiding philosophy is simple yet powerful:
“Accents don’t need fixing. Stories don’t need filters. And culture never needs an apology.”
Here, being “bad” means being bold, sincere, and fearless.
Being “desi” means staying deeply rooted, no matter how far you go.
Join the Movement
“Join us in building the world’s largest South-Asian creator ecosystem — connect, create, go global.”
Because when courage, culture, and creativity come together, the result isn’t just content — it’s connection.
That’s Bad & Desi: unapologetic, proud, global, and beautifully real.
