By KOLKATA — Abhiraj Shee, a 12-year-old student at Delhi Public School Megacity Kolkata, has built more than 150 applications and browser-based games since 2021, according to family records and a certificate from India Book of Records citing 102 apps developed within a defined period.
The apps, hosted through project links on the coding-education platform code.org rather than distributed through commercial app stores, cover categories including quizzes, exercise routines and study aids, Shee’s family said. Because the projects are not published through Apple’s App Store or Google Play — both of which require developer accounts generally restricted to adults — independent download or usage figures are not publicly available.
Shee has also competed in hackathons aimed at school-age coders. In the iCode Global Hackathon, which organizers describe as the world’s largest coding competition for children with participation from more than 30 lakh students across 75-plus countries, he placed first in the Eastern India zonal round, 10th in the Asian final and 20th in the global final, according to results released by organizers for the 2024-25 cycle.
He has also received recognition through the Hewlett Packard Enterprise CodeWars Hackathon, a Coding Star certificate from Codingal, and participation certificates from hackathons hosted by BIT Mesra and IIT Roorkee, according to documentation shared by the family.

India’s school-level coding education sector has expanded rapidly over the past five years, with platforms such as code.org, Codingal and Tata Consultancy Services’ iON platform running structured programs and competitions aimed at children as young as six.
