Kitchens That Work Before They Impress: Inside the Modular Kitchen and Custom Furniture Practice at Decoruss

A kitchen is judged every day, which is why the modular kitchen is the centrepiece of many Lucknow renovations. Decoruss, an interior design company in the city, lists modular kitchen design and installation among its core services, alongside customised wardrobes, TV units, crockery units, display units and bedroom furniture.

Planning Before Fabrication

A good kitchen starts with measurement and workflow: where the hob, sink and refrigerator sit, how far a cook walks between them, and where tall storage fits without crowding the room. Decoruss says it prepares 2D AutoCAD drawings and 3D visualisations so clients can see the layout before cabinets are made. Customised cabinets and storage are fitted to the available space, in acrylic and other suitable finishes chosen for how they look and how they cope with heat, moisture and daily cleaning.

Furniture Designed Around the Room

The same method applies to wardrobes, TV panels and crockery units: sized to the wall, with shelving, hanging space and drawers matched to what a household owns. For homeowners looking for a modular kitchen designer in Lucknow, the appeal of a firm that designs the rest of the interior is consistency, since cabinet colours, countertops, lighting and wall finishes can be considered together.

According to the company, fabrication and installation form part of its turnkey service, with site supervision during fitting and a final check before handover. Specifications and a quotation are prepared in advance.

Material choices shape cost and lifespan. Finish, hinges, channels and countertops all affect how a kitchen ages, so decisions made at the design stage tend to matter more than later repairs. As an interior designer in Lucknow offering both kitchens and the rest of the home, the studio can match a kitchen’s colours and lighting to adjoining rooms, and clients in apartments from Gomti Nagar to Alambagh are among those it serves.

Modular construction has changed Indian kitchens. Instead of masonry shelves and site-built cabinets, factory-made carcasses and finished shutters are assembled on site, which gives cleaner lines and predictable quality. The trade-off is that dimensions must be right before manufacturing, so measurement and drawing carry more weight than in older methods. That is why the drawing stage, with plan views and 3D visuals, is the foundation of the job.

Storage planning deserves the same care as appearance. Deep drawers for pots, pull-out units for spices and oils, tall units for appliances and corner solutions that avoid dead space all influence how pleasant a kitchen is to use years later, and designers generally advise choosing hardware and finishes with daily use in mind, not only photographs. Kitchen and furniture work is shared on the studio’s Facebook page and YouTube channel, while LinkedIn carries company updates and Google Maps lists the location.

Maintenance is the final test of a kitchen. Surfaces near the hob take heat and grease, sink-area cabinets face moisture, and handles and hinges are used dozens of times a day. Finishes that wipe clean easily and hardware rated for heavy use cost a little more at the start and save repair visits later. Task lighting under wall cabinets, placed over counters instead of the middle of the room, makes everyday cooking easier and is simple to plan at the design stage.
