On Vijaya Dashami, Poet Sudip Chandra Halder Leads Food Distribution Drive in Kashi to Promote Social Equity

Kashi, October 3 – In a heartfelt gesture aimed at addressing social inequality, emerging poet and researcher Sudip Chandra Halder led a food distribution drive in Kashi on the occasion of Vijaya Dashami, bringing festive cheer to over 200 marginalized and underprivileged individuals.

Held in the spiritual heart of India, the initiative symbolized a deeper message: true celebration lies in inclusivity and compassion, especially during festivals that mark the triumph of good over evil.

The event was inaugurated by Dr. Babita Berberia, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Law, Banaras Hindu University (BHU). Speaking at the program, Dr. Berberia emphasized the need for equitable access to basic human needs. “While some celebrate with abundance, others struggle for a single meal. This gap must be bridged, and initiatives like this are a step in that direction,” she said.

In his address, Halder stated, “Before we talk of ethics or spirituality, we must ensure no one goes hungry. Feeding the hungry is not just charity—it is justice.” Quoting Swami Vivekananda, he added, “What use is religion if you cannot feed the hungry?”

He further noted that serving the needy is a form of worship in itself. “On a day that commemorates the victory of righteousness, let our actions reflect the values we celebrate,” Halder said, extending warm Vijaya Dashami wishes to all.

The event was supported by volunteers from Banaras Hindu University, including Urbi Dubey, Srishti Yadav, Dipanjana Choudhury, Yashvardhan Shukla, Vyom Shukla, Satyam Raj Kashyap, Shibu Kalai, and Arvind Yadav, a constable from Lanka Police Station.

This grassroots effort highlights the growing role of youth-led initiatives in promoting compassionate action and social responsibility, particularly in culturally significant moments.
