By Sony Pictures will distribute the mythological epic Ramayana across international markets outside India, after signing a deal with Prime Focus Studios described as one of the biggest of its kind for an Indian film.
Ramayana stars Ranbir Kapoor, Yash and Sai Pallavi, and is directed by Nitesh Tiwari, with a soundtrack composed by Hans Zimmer and A.R. Rahman.
The film’s trailer launch has been delayed following the Sony Pictures announcement. Prime Focus Studios founder Namit Malhotra called the tie-up a historic moment for the project.
The film is set for an international release across multiple languages, including a premium English-language version.
Dharma Productions, headed by Karan Johar, will continue to oversee the film’s release within India.
