Sooryavanshi, Mayank Yadav star as India blank Zimbabwe 3-0 in T20Is

India closed out their T20I series against Zimbabwe with a 3-0 sweep, beating the hosts by 35 runs in the third and final match at Harare Sports Club on Sunday. Batting first, India scored 192/5, and Zimbabwe were held to 157/7 while chasing 193.

The result was built around another big score from Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who made 81 off 49 balls. The 15-year-old opener had already made his mark earlier in the series with a maiden T20I fifty off 18 balls in the first match and 20 off 9 balls in the second.

Sunday’s innings meant Sooryavanshi became the first player from a full-member Test nation to register two international half-centuries before turning 16 years old.

India’s bowlers backed up the total, with Mayank Yadav the standout performer. His figures of 3 for 29 restricted Zimbabwe’s scoring and kept the required run rate climbing throughout the chase.

This is India’s second consecutive 3-0 sweep of Zimbabwe on the tour, after the ODI series was also settled 3-0 in India’s favour before the T20Is began.
